I can hardly believe that I'm actually about to leave for the Peace Corps. All the steps involved are about to pay off.
I believe I filled out my online application March of 2010. Then sometime in the fall (October? November?) I got my interview. After the interview I was recommended to serve and then my medical packet came in December (?) of 2011. It took about a month and a half to finish it all (since I hadn't had a shot since I was about 10...). Then in August I received a phone call saying I was invited to serve and my staging kit arrived a week later.
I'm leaving for Ghana. I've always wanted to be involved with the Peace Corps and since I've just graduated from college I figured what better time? I've just gotten free of school and I'm not tied down with work yet. Who knew how time would fly though! Its definitely crept up on me.
Finishing up my last few [tearful] goodbyes, attended a [very] fun goodbye party where all of my best friends came, eating my favorite foods, and running at my favorite reserve. I'm a mixture of being extremely excited and incredibly nervous. I have no idea what to expect, other than this "fufu" I keep reading about. Hopefully I can keep up to date with this blog so everybody will know what I'm up to.
